Professional Title:
Practice Manager
Can you share your career journey and how you arrived at your current position? Please include education, volunteering, work experience, etc. Hard work, being respected by my peers and growth. And finally education:)
What motivated or inspired you to pursue this field?
I wanted to combine my knowledge from the past 10 years with my HR knowledge.
Were there specific challenges or obstacles you faced in your career, and how did you overcome them?
Funny enough....being too good at my position and management not wanting to have me leave that position. For example, I started as a receptionist and because I was so good at my job they wanted me to stay there :)
What aspects of your job do you find most rewarding?
Being the team leader. Being the one who can set the tone!
What aspects of the job do you find challenging or less enjoyable?
Dealing with the problem seekers. Some people always see the negative side of everything. That gets exhausting.
What advice do you have for someone starting in this field?
You never know who you are talking to! I treated everyone like a future employer. Anyone I spoke to or interacted with I thought...they might need someone like me one day!
Are there specific skills or qualities you believe are crucial for success in your profession?
Yes. You have to be a team player, motivator and cheerleader. Be able to treat everyone individually. Everyone is different. Everyone needs something different. You need to be able to acclimate to their personality.
How do you stay current in your field, or do you engage in ongoing professional development?
YES!! I take part in any Zoom call whether it is for PMs or any other position:)
Did you have any mentors or role models who influenced your career choice?
Not at work. Mentors would be ANY strong intelligent female I have met or spoken to.
If you could go back and give advice to your younger self, what would it be?
OMG!! Go to college or university when you are young. Just do it! Biggest regret to this day is not being pushed into continuing education right out of high school.
